HUMAN 1

This is week 3 of the programme where we look at the human aspects

The Third week brings things forward with Fullers argument that humanity is artificial in that it goes beyond what is required to survive in a Darwinian sense ie reproduction and proliferation of the species.  Education and learning is an example of this in that it sets out to change our sense of operating in a social and societal sense. The 6 arguments against humanity also explore concepts to reassess what humanity is.
However I do agree that there is unfinished business from the past ..in particular to strive for equality and diversity. I agree that this is difficult to achieve given the pace, politics of nation and religion and desire for change.  For example 3rd world nations are embracing technology by way of engaging with progress. The neo conservatism of most political systems and religions  is exacerbating differences and creating educational, commercial and technological elites. By adopting a western education system which is still  designed to produce widgets (workers) for industry and commerce the majority of people remain apart from equality and  opportunity.
The film made of meat and world builder are fascinating  in that they give a picture of how we as humans can experience things differently and from an alternative perspective of what we could be . The extreme post humanist notion of rating our virtual lives more important than the physical world we live in my view not a healthy one. However I do recognise the potential to create deep and meaningful connections through this medium.
